A visit to the Galapagos Islands is a visit to a real life interactive science park! There is no better place in the world to be face-to-face with nature, biology, wildlife, and exciting active adventures. There is an amazing amount of wildlife for kids to see in the Galapagos and there are a lot of fun ways to see that wildlife. The Galapagos isn’t only ab out the animals, but about the adventure and excitement. Kids have plenty of opportunities to have fun outside while not just learning but also seeing wildlife. Thinking about traveling to the Galapagos Islands for your kids? Here are our favorite activities for traveling with kids to the Galapagos Islands!

Hike

Being an archipelago, each island in the Galapagos was created by volcanic movements. With this, each island has hills, dormant volcanos, craters, and mountains to hike. Some of these trails will take your family past giant tortoises snacking on grass, colonies of blue-footed boobies, lagoons that are home to flamingoes, and much more! A few great hikes to consider when traveling with kids in the Galapagos are Sierra Negra, Sombrero Chino, and the lava tunnels on Santa Cruz Island.

Snorkel

This is quite possibly the best activity to do in the Galapagos Islands, for kids and adults alike! Being an archipelago, there are plenty of places to go snorkeling. What makes the snorkeling here so great is that it’s like being in a real life aquarium. You’ll snorkel with Galapagos penguins, sharks, manta rays, turtles, sea lions, and more tropical fish than you can count! Some of the best snorkeling spots are Whale Bay, Kicker Rock, and Sea Lion Island.

Kayak

Much like snorkeling, you can kayak alongside Galapgos penguins and sea lions. It’s great to glide across the water in kayak to marine life next to you and birds fly over you! Keep an eye out for albatrosses, cormorants, frigate birds and much more!

Bike

Going for a bike ride while on the Galapagos Islands is a great way for kids to see a lot and engage with the environment around them. One of our favorite biking trails is to the Wall of Tears on Isabela Island. The trail takes you along beautiful beaches and striking swamps to see a lot of birds endemic to the island.

Surf

There is no better way to have fun in the ocean than to hop up on a board and catch a wave! Have your kids never surfed before? That’s no problem! The waves are easy and a quick lesson can have them surfing in no time. This goes for you too!

Bonus

Sharing your family vacation with these beautiful animals, while having fun, is something your all will always remember! Consider visiting the Galapagos Islands, for your kids sake!
