You’ll spot howler monkeys, agouti, brocket deer and peccaries, then taste authentic Central American chocolate. Fun fact: Belize is known as the world’s “Cradle of Chocolate” – need we say more?

Learn How to Make Belizean Chocolate

The history of chocolate begins with the Mayans over 2,000 years ago. Taste this time-honored tradition during a visit to a family-run chocolatier, where you can grind cacao beans and taste chocolate with salt, chili, ginger and coconut.

    Visit a Mayan Home

Kek’chi Mayans use agriculture as a way to commune with their deity. This visit will reveal what life was like for this community 50 years ago. Then, you can learn how to prepare an authentic Mayan meal and taste the results.

Snorkel in the Southern Barrier Reef

At 185 miles long, the Southern Barrier Reef is the greatest stretch of coral reef in the western hemisphere. Snorkeling here gives you access to a kaleidoscope of colorful reefs, fish and tropical habitats. You might also spot eagle rays, dolphins, turtles and more!

    Hike in Cockscomb Basin

This 128,000-acre basin is the world’s first and only wildlife sanctuary dedicated to preserving indigenous cats. It’s also a haven for wildlife spotting, birding and hiking. Enjoy a picnic lunch in between activities, then cool off in the rejuvenating waterfalls.

    Explore Placencia

The tagline of Placencia is “Barefoot Perfect,” referring to its 16 miles of sandy beaches perfect for casual strolling and lounging. Explore the coast, then check out the village at the tip of the peninsula, home to scenic craft shops, restaurants, jewelers and stores.
