Possibly the world’s most fascinating science project, Iceland is a living, breathing island of fire and ice. Its unique geology dots the country with active volcanoes and gushing geysers. Add in shifting tectonic plates, towering glaciers and a crisp subarctic climate with summer daylight that never ends and you have an irresistible, active outdoor adventure that scores off the charts.

    Recommended Age: 8+

Explore Glaciers by Foot and Snowmobile

Bundle up to traverse the snowpack for an up-close look at a vast world of ice. 11% of Iceland’s land mass is covered by these deep and dramatic rivers of ice.

Discover Lava Fields and Geothermal Parks

Warm up on the fiery side where natural hot springs warm and relax you and steaming fumaroles and exploding geysers hint at their great power. Geothermal sources account for 66% of Iceland’s energy use.

    Walk with Icelandic Goats

Meet Meike at her farm and walk with her friendly goats through beautiful fairy-land landscapes. This ancient breed is an endangered species and are rarely found outside of Iceland.

    Feel a (simulated!) Earthquake

What does 6.0 feel like? Come see! In Iceland you’ll learn all about how shifting tectonic plates shape the land.

    Learn About the Vikings!

Brave and fierce, Vikings settled this land long after Western Europe was established. They created a government system unique to the world at that time, with laws enforced by the people and not by one authority.
