    Possibly the world’s most fascinating science project, Iceland is a living, breathing island of fire and ice. Its unique geology dots the country with active volcanoes and gushing geysers. Add in shifting tectonic plates, towering glaciers and a crisp subarctic climate with summer daylight that never ends and you have an irresistible, active outdoor adventure that scores off the charts.

    Explore Glaciers by Foot and Snowmobile

    Bundle up to traverse the snowpack for an up-close look at a vast world of ice. 11% of Iceland’s land mass is covered by these deep and dramatic rivers of ice.

    Discover Lava Fields and Geothermal Parks

    Warm up on the fiery side where natural hot springs warm and relax you and steaming fumaroles and exploding geysers hint at their great power. Geothermal sources account for 66% of Iceland’s energy use.

    Walk with Icelandic Goats

    Meet Meike at her farm and walk with her friendly goats through beautiful fairy-land landscapes. This ancient breed is an endangered species and are rarely found outside of Iceland.

    Feel a (simulated!) Earthquake

    What does 6.0 feel like? Come see! In Iceland you’ll learn all about how shifting tectonic plates shape the land.

    Icelandic Horseback Ride

    Take an unforgettable ride on an Icelandic horse and its world famous five gaits. You’ll gallop your way through beautiful landscapes.

    The Blue Lagoon

    Head right off to one of the great wonders of the world, the geothermal sea waters in the iconic Blue Lagoon. Rich with minerals it is thought to work wonders for your skin and is sure to help you shed your weariness. Surrounded by a stark volcanic landscape, dip yourselves into the warm blue water and enjoy!


    You’ll make a stop to dip your toes into the Atlantic and catch a glimpse of the President’s official residence.

    Days 3-5

    South Coast

    Geysir Geothermal Field

    Walk through a field of mud pots and fumaroles to witness the rare natural phenomenon of a geyser. Strokkur explodes every six to 10 minutes and shoots as high as 100 ft.

    Gullfoss Waterfall

    Also known as the Golden Waterfall these powerful waters drape in two tiers to fall 32 feet into a gorge to feed the Hvítá River.

    Snowmobile on a Glacier

    Suit up with overalls and helmets for an exhilarating scoot along the vast and snowy ice.

    Secret Lagoon

    Soak in Iceland’s oldest pool surrounded by the magic of nature.

    Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

    Walk full circle around these falls for a mesmerizing – and damp – look at the tumbling water from the Seljalandsá river.

    Sólheimajökull Glacier

    An experienced glacier guide will lead you on an easy walk through the frozen wonderland with many different shades of glacier ice.

    Þjórsársalur Valley

    Walk through the beautiful Paradise Valley with its fairy land of Gjáin, a reconstructed Viking farm house and the excavation of one buried in a Mt. Hekla eruption in 1104.

    Days 6-7

    West Iceland

    Þingvellir National Park

    Head to the Mid Atlantic Ridge where the continents of Europe and America drift apart by 2 cm each year. Visit historic sites such as the ‘drowning pool’ and ‘law speakers hill’ to learn about the oldest parliament in the world.

    Hraunfossar Falls

    See the unique turquoise ‘lava falls’ created by water flowing through lava rock and into the Hvita River.

    Lava Cave

    Don helmets and enter the underground world of Iceland’s longest lava cave.

    Viking Sushi Boat

    With breathtaking views of the fairy-like scenery of Breiðafjörður fjord, you’ll pull shellfish from the sea for the freshest taste of nature.

    Stykkishólmur village

    Explore town with time on your own. There are many restaurants for lunch, and museums and a pool to visit.

    Day 8


    Akranes Lighthouse

    Visit a beautiful lighthouse — Iceland has 104 — for photographic opportunities. Climb to the top and enjoy the echo sound from up high.

    Icelandic Horseback Ride

    The gentle, strong Icelandic horse comes in more than 40 color and pattern variations and boasts five gaits, including the incredibly smooth “Tolt” step. Take an unforgettable trail ride on one of these endearing ponies through beautiful landscape.
