Either before or after your Azores adventure, why not hop on over to mainland Portugal and the beautiful city of Lisbon. Home to the world’s greatest explorers like Vasco de Gama, Magellan, and Prince Henry the Navigator, Lisbon was once capital of an empire that included South America and Asia. Today it’s a family-friendly and diverse compilation of palaces, forts, World Heritage sites and beautiful beaches – you won’t be disappointed!

    The City of Seven Hills

Stroll some – or all! – of the glorious hills that define Lisbon and its neighborhoods. In this beautiful city you can snack on tasty traditional pastries while soaking up the vast world history still alive in the cobblestone streets and monuments.

    Castles Galore

Who doesn’t love castles? They have protected and nurtured Portugal since the time of the Romans. Climb the ramparts of Saint George Castle for exceptional city views; as you explore the magnificent castles from turret to terrace you are uncovering a cultural crossroad spanning thousands of years.

    Charming Sintra

As if drawn from a fairy tale Sintra has brightly colored manors and castles set amongst mountains with an abundance of lush green gardens and forest, and lovely sandy beaches. Discover Sintra’s crown jewel, the flamboyant Pena Palace, overlooking the UNESCO designated city center.

Activity Level

Active trips revolve around multi-sport activities that keep your family outside and having fun! Your family will spend more time interacting with the elements and exploring than sitting on a beach or inside of a museum. These activities are not always physically demanding but they can be and do require a basic level of fitness.
