    Day 5

    Days 6-8

    Vulcano

    Hydrofoil to Vulcano

Feel like a real-life secret agent in a hydrofoil boat, named for the fin-like devices attached to the hull that lifts the boat out of the water and increases its speed.

    Try a Muddy Bath (Optional)

Take advantage of earth’s natural spa, soaking in some of the Aeolian Islands’ healing hot mud and fumaroles.

    Pizza Making and Wine Tasting

Enjoy great Sicilian wines during a tasting at a local winery. While you taste the fine wines, the kids will enjoy making their own pizza for dinner.

    Kayak Excursion Around Vulcano

Paddle a sea kayak in the calm waters around the small island of Vulcano, known for its wealth of hot springs, mud baths and black-sand beaches.

    Visit Panarea

Explore Panarea, the second-smallest of the Aeolian Islands, known for its classic white houses that convey a Greek vibe. While the island’s two beautiful beaches are rocky, they offer excellent views of the ocean and Stromboli.

Watch Sciara del Fuoco from Boat

On the way back to Vulcano, stop near the Sciara del Fuoco to view the light explosion. Watch the “stream of fire” after dark while enjoying dinner on the boat.

    Trekking Stromboli

    Sicily

    Friends Across Borders (FAB)

Gather in San Cristoforo, Catania’s vibrant old quarter, to meet the volunteers, kids and families of GAPA (which translates to “Youngs Absolutely for Action”), a nonprofit organization supporting the school and youth leisure activities. However, Thomson Family Adventures donates to the program on behalf of each guest.

    Walking Discovery of Catania

Visit the local rural museum and enjoy a bread and pasta making class.

    Hike Mt. Etna

Take an easy walk on the slopes of Europe’s highest active volcano. Cinder cones and extinct craters are found on the desolate landscape of this upper part of Etna. From high on the mountain there is a wonderful panorama of the eastern coast of Sicily.
