Active trips revolve around multi-sport activities that keep your family outside and having fun! Your family will spend more time interacting with the elements and exploring than sitting on a beach or inside of a museum. These activities are not always physically demanding but they can be and do require a basic level of fitness.

    9 breakfasts, 7 lunches, 5 dinners

This active adventure pits you against some of Switzerland’s most wow-worthy scenery. Go whitewater rafting in the Alps one day, then reach mountain peak after mountain peak the next. Hike, boat and climb through woodlands, rapids, gorges and more – Switzerland is the heart of Europe, and this trip will get yours pumping.

    Climb Mount Rigi

From the village square in Rigi Kaltbad, ascend 1,089 feet through the rock chapel and secluded forests to Rigi Kulm, the highest peak of Rigi. Take in panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and snowy peaks.

Go Whitewater Rafting in the Swiss Alps

The mighty Lutschine River offers some of the best whitewater rafting in the Alps. Class IV rapids surge from the Swiss mountains into Interlaken Valley.

    Conquer Faulhorn Peak

At 8,795 feet high, Faulhorn Peak showcases the best of the Bernese Alps: Lake Brienz, turquoise and shimmering in the distance; the mountain towers of the Jungfrau massif; and Bachalpsee, the “Blue Jewel” of Switzerland. It’s a beautiful, rugged and rewarding hike.

Hike to Vorass and Trotti-Bike Down

Take in glorious views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau peaks – and the blue swatches of faraway lakes – as you hike through dreamlike meadows to Vorass. Coast back down on a trotti-bike, stopping on the way to enjoy the scenery.

    Descend into Gorner Gorge

Over half a mile long, your descent into Gorner Gorge is on a dynamic fixed rope route. Pass water-polished rocks and beautiful woodland scenery as you traverse zip-lines, pendulum swings and suspension bridges.

    Fly to Lucerne, Switzerland

    Days 2-3

    Hike Mt. Rigi

From the village square in Rigi Kaltbad, ascend 1,089 feet through the rock chapel and secluded forests to Rigi Kulm, the highest peak of Mt. Rigi. Enjoy a panoramic view of the surruonding lakes and snowy peaks, then stop by Chaesernholz on the way down for some authentic Alpine cheese.

    Days 5-7

    Whitewater Rafting

The best whitewater rafting in the Swiss Alps is on the Lutschine. Hop in your raft below the Eigher North Face and rush down the surging Class III-IV rapids, through the mountains and into Lake Brienz of the Interlaken Valley. It’s an exhilirating rush from start to finish. Jump in the water for a swim afterward!

Schynige Platte to First Summit Hike

Hike the rugged, beautiful mountain trail from Schynige Platte summit station to First, a minor summit on the slopes of Schwarzhorn.

Gondola Ride to the Summit of Niederhorn

In the nearby town of Beatenberg, ride the gondola to the summit of the Niederhorn. From there, take in glorious views of the iconic peaks: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

    Ride a Trotti-bike

Enjoy the fresh mountain air as you ride down from Niederhorn Mountain via trotti-bike, a scooter-like bike without a seat. Take in scenic views, breezy mountain air and stop for pictures at your leisure.

    Hike to Vorsass

Hike up Niederhorn on a popular trail, taking in views of Lake Thun and the big three mountains of the Swiss Alps – Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – as you go. Keep an eye out for the area’s abundant wildlife, including eagles, bearded vultures, mountain goats and ibex.

    Days 8-9

Climb through Gorner Gorge (3-4 hours)

Enjoy an adventure in Zermatt on the spectacular glacier-polished rocks of Gorner Gorge. Climb above thundering waters on a dynamic fixed rope route, featuring suspension bridges, abseil stations, zip-lines and an unforgettable view!

Optional: Snowshoeing on the Matterhorn (additional cost)

This 4-mile snowshoeing trek leads you through an ethereal mountainous snowscape, the lakes of Theodul Glacier and past snow-covered Alpine giants, such as the Matterhorn, the Dent Blanche and the Gabelhorn. The total ascent is 616 feet and the descent is 1,751 feet.

    Day 10

    Explore Bern

With your guide, walk through the Old Town of Bern – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and visit some of the highlights, including the Federal Palace, the Zytglogge Clock Tower, the four bears in BearPark and the Cathedral and Tower.
